Are Wish Lists Unprofessional?

AlexUK

Question

I'm wondering what everyone's views on escorts and porn stars making and tweeting their wish lists (usually gift lists hosted by eBay or amazon) in a clear attempt to get clients and other generous folk to make the purchase on their behalf.

My favourite porn star, kyler moss has one including an SLR camera.

As much as I'd be tempted (my Shakespeare collection isn't even a third way complete and you can never have too many clothes), I can't help think this is vulgar and would be seen as such by prospective clients.

So would you be comfortable making a wish list and sticking it on Sleepyboy, or your website?

Don't see the problem, given that the job and the profile on twitter intersects with their personal lives, and besides, there's no set code of conduct.

It does raise the question, what are they spending their tax-free cash earnings on to merit begging?

It would not be in my taste, nor would I see it as vulgar, but taste is a subjective thing.

Plenty of colleagues - especially at the younger age of the spectrum care little for projecting themselves as a legitimate business. The job is a means to an end ... and to be honest they already (although not as explicitly) want something for nothing.

Posting a wishlist certainly doesn't project a professional image, but I'd reserve the judgement "unprofessional" for individual cases, where, for example, someone stood a client up, or pretended to be one to waste someone's time.

I first discovered this trend a year ago and so I made an Amazon wish list myself and stuck it, very discretely, on my website. It's never been used as it's probably too discreet, plus I think it's something used more for the younger age groups by older guys who want to 'impress' a younger guy. I don't see a problem with it as long as it's not in-your-face. I only did it after an Arabic guy contacted me several times asking what gifts I would like.

Wish lists are really common with female dommes and I don't see lists as unprofessional in themselves, it's all down to how the list is presented. A domme for example would expect a gift from her client and the client enjoys buying a gift to show his devotion.

If you're worried about looking like a gold-digger, you could always put a list together and only show it to clients that ask if you would like a present.

I've recently heard of a few escorts doing cam shows for a client who buys them Amazon gifts in exchange, only to cancel the order once the show's over. One to watch out for.

Honestly if it were things that could help you professionally and the client is willing to purchase then I see no reason in sharing the list. I just wouldn't force anyone to view the list if they didn't want to.
